Manage DNS records for your domains
Configure domain records for your services. DNS behavior depends on record settings, TTLs, and recursive resolver caches.
DNS management features
Manage supported domain records and review zone settings in one place.
DNS records and zone management
Use DNS records to direct domain names to the configured services. Resolution time depends on record TTLs, recursive resolvers, and network paths.
DNS availability and protection
DNS service availability and network protections depend on the configured provider and infrastructure. No uptime or DDoS mitigation guarantee is implied.
Manage DNS records and TTL settings
Changes are published by the authoritative DNS service; recursive resolvers may continue using cached records until their TTL expires.
DNS zone and record management
Manage records for domains configured in your account. Availability and usage limits depend on the service and plan.
Supported DNS record types
Manage supported record types, including A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, and CAA. Some record types have configuration limits.
Connect DNS records to your services
Configure DNS records for your domains and services. Domain routing and service deployment are separate settings.
Frequently asked questions about DNS
Answers about domain records, DNS settings, and propagation:
What is DNS, and how does it work for a website?
The Domain Name System (DNS) maps human-readable domain names, such as deplomo.com, to IP addresses. When a browser or application requests a domain, it queries DNS to find the destination configured for that name.
A DNS hosting service lets you manage domain records through its control panel. Lookup behavior depends on authoritative nameservers, record configuration, TTL values, recursive resolvers, and network routes.
DNS record routing and resolution
DNS providers publish authoritative records for domains. The time required to resolve a domain depends on the nameservers, resolver location, cached responses, and configured TTL.
Deplomo DNS records are served by the configured authoritative DNS service. This page does not claim a particular Anycast network, latency, or global propagation time.
DNS availability and security considerations
DNS infrastructure can be affected by outages and malicious traffic. Protection depends on the authoritative provider and its configured services.
Deplomo DNS settings provide record management. Check the selected provider’s documentation for availability and DDoS protection; no mitigation or uptime guarantee is implied.
DNS management compared with other options
DNS features, propagation behavior, and security depend on the chosen DNS provider and configuration. The table compares general management approaches:
| Feature | Deplomo DNS management | Domain registrar DNS | DNS in a hosting control panel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Provider and network setup | Depends on the DNS provider | Depends on the registrar and its nameservers | Depends on the hosting provider |
| DNS resolution time | Depends on resolvers, TTLs, and network routes | Depends on the configured nameservers and resolver cache | Depends on the shared DNS provider and its setup |
| Availability and DDoS protection | Depends on the authoritative DNS provider and its protections | Protections vary by provider and service configuration | Service availability depends on the provider and infrastructure |
| Record update and cache behavior | Record updates are published according to provider settings | Cached records may remain until their TTL expires | Resolver and registry timing varies |
| Service availability | Depends on the provider’s infrastructure and service terms | Depends on the registrar and authoritative DNS provider | Web hosting and DNS can have separate availability |
| Pricing and usage limits | Check current plan details for prices and limits | Features and limits depend on the provider | Domain and hosting costs depend on the selected provider and plan |
| Record management | Supports common records such as A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, and CAA, subject to configuration limits | Supported records and management tools depend on the provider | Management options depend on the provider’s control panel |
DNS, page loading, and search performance
DNS lookup is one part of the time it takes for a browser to reach a website. Page performance and search rankings depend on many factors.
DNS lookup can contribute to initial connection time, but its impact varies with resolver caches, network routes, and the website. DNS changes do not guarantee lower bounce rates or better search rankings.
DNS records for email authentication
Use DNS records to configure domain routing and email authentication. Your email provider’s instructions determine the values you need:
- MX records: route incoming email to the mail servers specified by your email provider.
- TXT records: publish SPF, DKIM, or DMARC values provided by your email service. DNS records support these policies but cannot guarantee inbox placement or prevent spoofing by themselves.
- CAA records: specify which certificate authorities may issue certificates for a domain. This setting does not prevent every form of certificate misuse.
- AAAA records: map a hostname to an IPv6 address.
How to configure DNS for a domain
To configure DNS, add the domain to your account, update its nameservers if required, and create the records your service needs. Propagation timing depends on registry processing, TTL values, and resolver caches.
- Add the domain: In the Deplomo dashboard, open DNS management, add your domain, and create the required records.
- Update the nameservers: Use the nameservers shown in the dashboard for the domain you added.
- Change nameservers at your domain registrar. Registry and resolver updates may take time; DNS propagation depends on TTL values and caching.
