Production tips for Node.js

  • Pin the Node version in the engines field of package.json.
  • Create a separate service for the worker with its own start command.
  • Store secrets in environment variables, not in a .env file committed to Git.
  • Check the health check and startup time before routing live traffic.
  • Store persistent data and user files on persistent disks or cloud storage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I deploy Node.js on Deplomo?

To deploy a Node.js app, connect your Express or NestJS project to Git. The platform detects package.json, runs npm install and the build script, then starts the app with npm start.

How do I deploy a Node.js project with secure environment variables?

For a Node.js project, set secret values such as API keys and database connection strings in the dashboard’s environment variables. Your app can then access them through process.env.

Can Express and NestJS apps use cloud databases?

Yes. Add a MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or Redis database, then connect it to your service without manual configuration.
